This is a great arrangement by Dana 'Chips' Hoover of the 1956 tune by Marvin Fisher and Jack Segal, "When Sunny Gets Blue". I'm posting it here because I learned it when I was studying with Chips, who was a TG disciple, and also because he gave it to me at Dale's Guitar store where I would sometimes take a lesson from Ted when he had a cancellation. I've made my own tweaks over the years and a lot of them are certainly Ted related and inspired.

Really sweet!  This is a great tune for solo guitar.
Thanks for sharing this with us, Ken.

I also studied with Chips.  When I first called Ted for lessons he asked me to go to Chips.  So I studied with him for about 6 months before I was admitted to Ted's regular schedule.
What ever happened to him?  I don't think I recall him ever posting a message here in the Forums.
Sure would be great to hear from him, to get some memories relating to Ted.  Anyone else out there have any info?

I'm pretty sure he lives and sells real estate in Lancaster Ca.
I know he does still play.
We are 'friends' on Facebook but he's fairly quiet most of the time.

He was a great teacher!

You'll find Chips as "Dana Hoover" on Facebook. He's playing!  I too studied with Chips - an awesome awesome player.  I've heard some great stories from Tony Mandracchia (who worked at Dales) about Chips just writing out an arrangement in notation without his guitar.  Great guy too.

Can you guys share any of your Chips arrangements with me?  I only have a few.

I have many but they're scattered around. I'll dig them up and either scan them or just take a picture and send them to you.

Hey guys,
Recently I corresponded with Chips about writing an article about Ted for our site.  He agreed to do it, but is going to take his time because Ted meant so much to him.
I'm looking forward to that very much.
