A question to answer when talking about Ted is: What Ted?  Or, when Ted?  Ted was not static, but always dynamic and changing.   Not his deep values or interests, of course, but most other things......."But, Ted didn't you say last week that........"  "Dude, Man, where have you been.  This is the deal now."  So, during one of the last conversations with Ted, he says something like, "Bill, Bill, flatwounds man.  I'm love them.  This is the sound........."  And, he had them on everything except his purely acoustics, and maybe teles.  I have a few of Ted's guitars still strung by Ted (I'll never change them) and they are pretty heavy by today's standards.  But, today??? who knows... vinyl wrapped with liquid mercury core?  "Bill, Bill, when these wear out you can make rolly-pollys out of the mercury...But don't let your kids play with them."
