Ed Bickert passed away on Feb 28/2019.
Jazz on a Tele.  Beautiful tone.
Very often people mention Ed Bickert and Ted Greene in the same sentence.
Ed was one of the quiet, humble
greats.
He will be missed.

Two of the first new guitarists Ted turned me onto were Wes Montgomery and Ed Bickert.  I bought every recording I could find with Ed on it.  I can't tell you how many copies of "Pure Desmond" I wore out!  Very sad!

I'm especially fond of the guitar-vocal duets he did with Rosemary Clooney in the 1980's.  My favorite may be "Call Me Irresponsible" on the album she did of van Heusen songs.

The first solo I ever transcribed and performed with a group were a few of Ed's, when I was in high school playing Boss Brass charts. He has been one of my biggest infuences next to GVE, Ted and Lenny. I know we will all miss him greatly.
Hope it's OK to post this short video I recorded yesterday in memory of Ed Bickert, Mr. Taste.
