Final goodbyes to the great B.B. King.  I last saw him at the Greek Theater with Jeff Beck.  He was outstanding.  (So was Jeff Beck.)

Lots of great licks remain waiting on B.B. King's recordings for us to learn!

Ted loved B.B.'s playing.
RIP BB.

B.B. King really played to the chord changes like a jazz player.  What I mean is, many of us learn the minor pentatonic and/or blues scale and away we go soloing over the blues, only vaguely aware of whether we're playing over the I, IV, or V at any given moment.  But in B.B.'s playing, you can hear him feeling the changes and somehow his soloing smoothly shifts with the changes.  I like that and often hear that in really good blues players, like Stevie Ray Vaughn, who sometimes plays arpeggio based solos to the changes.

Very good points (as usual), James

I have been listening to his 1964 live recording called "Live at the Regal" the past few days.

May B.B. rest in peace and may any squabbles over his estate be civilized.
