The December Newsletter is now up.  Check it out.
http://www.tedgreene.com/news/default.asp

We're still coming strong on the V-System materials, and we've got Christmas song arrangements (a transcription and some GuitarPro5 files and TAB).
Blues for Christmas, anyone?  Blues works anytime for me!
An early Happy Holidays wish to all of the Ted Greene "family," friends, students (old and new), and fans.

As Paul said in the newsletter, everything you wanted to know about V-System conversion is here this month:

My chapter on conversion:
http://www.tedgreene.com/images/lessons/v_system/20_Conversion_.pdf

My comprehensive lists of all the conversions:
http://www.tedgreene.com/images/lessons/v_system/21_Conversions_Listed_by_Conversion_Procedure.pdf

http://www.tedgreene.com/images/lessons/v_system/22_Conversions_Listed_by_Source_Voicing_Group.pdf

http://www.tedgreene.com/images/lessons/v_system/23_Conversions_Listed_by_Target_Voicing_Group.pdf

The second most important page Ted wrote about the V-System (!) is about conversion:
http://www.tedgreene.com/images/lessons/v_system/V-System_Conversion_Methods_1989-02-04and2003-06-19.pdf

(The most important page Ted wrote about the V-System is coming in February 2013 with a line by line commentary by me.)

An interesting page where Ted considers whether voice swapping conversion works for all 43 V-Sys types.  He concludes it does:
http://www.tedgreene.com/images/lessons/v_system/Transformation_of_One_Style_Voicing_into_Another.pdf

Ted wrote out all 43 qualities in all four inversions for V-8 in staff notation.  Paul has meticulously transcribed this.  Then Ted wrote grids for the 35 regular qualities (excluding the 8 highly dissonant ones.)  Again Paul has done an astounding job of taking Ted's messy grids and presenting them with beautiful computer graphic grids.  (Ted sometimes wrote messier when he was writing hastily for his personal notes compared to his clear writing for his student lesson sheets.) The important thing to realize about both the staff notation of the 43 and the grid notation of the 35 is that the order of these chords is exactly the same as I listed them in my chapter on the 43 four note qualities.  Ted usually kept this order when listing the 35 or the 43:

http://www.tedgreene.com/images/lessons/v_system/V-8_Voicings_for_the_35_Chord_Types_1985-11-05.pdf

Sorry to repeat the newsletter, but I'm excited about all the great V-Sys material coming out this month.

How are you guys doing with the V-System material?
Do you find it helpful, interesting, useful, frustrating, confusing?
We'd love some feedback......

I'm loving the V-System stuff, I really like how the voicings are organized, and you're not just wandering aimlessly trying to learn chords. You really start to see and hear some relationships between voicings. Plus its not only the meat and potatoes chords, its the cool voicings you hear Ted use! Thanks for these lessons!

Seems like the December newsletter link points to the November newsletter content and the November link points to that same December heading (but November content), and there is no November newsletter in the archives.

Hi David,
I don't completely understand your post.  When I go to the Newsletter http://www.tedgreene.com/news/default.asp  I get the December 2012 Newsletter.
So there's no problem there.
However, you are correct that the November 2012 Newsletter is not in the archives.  I'll have Dan Sindel, our webmaster investigate it.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Yeah, a case of the, "Oops, I forgot to upload the pageitis" got me.
All fixed.  Thank you for catching that.

Hi Paul and Dan,
OK, figured out what happened...around the 5th Dec I clicked on the link in the November 2012 Newsletter post...didn't realize the link points to the latest newsletter...thought I was reading the Nov one (guess I didn't scrutinize the title)...then today clicked on the link in the December 2012 Newsletter post...indeed pointed to the Dec newsletter but I remembered having already read it and (as outlined above) had thought it was the Nov one. The archive anomaly seemed to tie in with all this but I can now see a classic coincidence!
Anyway, confusion dispelled.
Keep up the good work, I very much appreciate what you are doing here.
Dave.
