This note from Ted should be a 'must read' for everyone here.  It not only conveys musical knowledge, but also some of his thought processes and even his manner of expressing himself.  To me its very much like Ted speaking on this subject.   Thank you so much for posting.

Hi Herb,  Thank you for responding.   I added a bit of commentary and some other pages that I hope will bring some clarity.   Barbara

Barbara,
Thanks for all your work in pulling these pages together with your comments.  Another insight into Ted's musical mind - never resting, even when watching a movie!

i am always intrigued by this kind of thought process.
the first page should be framed, as it is a wonderful work of art !

New post today: Ted's Blues strategies - scroll down - I put it under Solo Guitar strategies to conserve space there as per a hint from Dan Sindel, wise but humble webmaster.  Thanks, Dan.

Fascinating stuff!  Does anybody know what he means by "Backwards guitar" and "Black Sheep - White Sheep and other tricks"?

I don't know if this is what Ted meant on this  paper by "backwards guitar" But i was taking a lesson with him once and I was kind of down about the fact that I'd been playing so long (over 20 years) and had not come as far as I thought I should have. Ted told me to take my guitar and try to play it backwards, that is fret with my right hand instead of left and strum with my left hand instead of right. It was very awkward. He told me "when you started playing that's exactly how awkward it was" and so I realized I'd come a lot further than I thought. Ted was so good at making me feel ok with wherever i was on guitar. if  I'm not wrong, Ted used this the white sheep, black sheep in a seminar and he was talking about keys.

For example take the G major scale, the only "strange" note is F# and take Gb, the only natural note is F, I think he used the white sheep black sheep analogy for that.......

anyway hope others will chime in and explain if I'm wrong
