Hey guys,
These Forums have been deathly quiet for the past month +.
We'd like to encourage some conversations here.  Certainly we have some common ground to discuss with all the lesson materials on the TG site.
Tell us what you're working on, what successes you've had, what things you find challenging in any of Ted's lessons, etc.
It's nice to hear from you guys.

Hi guys,

We just posted batch #13 of the “Lesson File Upgrades” - 7 files, and they're all for the Arrangements section.

http://tedgreene.com/teaching/upgrades.asp

Can’t Help Falling in Love
High Hopes
My Country ‘Tis of Thee (America)
Old Folks at Home (Swanee River)
On Green Dolphin Street
Summertime (key of Am)
Summertime (key of Bm)

Hope you will enjoy them and find them helpful in learning Ted's written arrangements.
Thanks to "Lawyer Charles" from Phoenix for providing me with a lead sheet to "High Hopes."
You might find it helpful to listen to Ted playing "High Hopes" on his "Messin' Around at Home I" recording:
http://tedgreene.com/audio/audio_TedGreeneMessinAroundAtHome-I.asp
It's on part 1, at 20:37.  Although it might not be completely accurate to the sheet music, as it was a pretty loose performance and Ted was improvising quite a bit then.

Yeah, I know...."Summertime" is a little out-of-place at this time in December.  But you can wish.... [cool]

Friends,

We posted batch #14 of the “Lesson File Upgrades”

http://tedgreene.com/teaching/upgrades.asp

For our January 2018 installment of the “Lesson File Upgrades” we have 6 files that we replaced in the  CHORD STUDIES section, and two that we just moved to be under a different sub-header.

 __________________________________________________________________

For the CHORD STUDIES under the “Triads” section we’ve upgraded the following files:

Listing Names:

  • I-ii-IV-ii-I in Close Triads
  • Close 1st Inversion Triads with Inner Voice Motion (2-to-1)
  • Decorated Triads
  • Triad Exercises in Minor – Broken Chords

For the first 3 here we added extra pages of translation/filled-in grids. For the 4th one we added music notation combined with Ted’s chord grid diagrams.

 _____________________________________________________________

Under the “Chord Streams” header, we deleted this file:

  • 3-Note Low-End Chord Streams (1987)

And replaced it with two separate files, and renamed them as:

  • 3-Note Low-End Chord Streams (minor 6)
  • 3-Note Low-End Chord Streams (minor 7b5)

__________________________________________________________________

And these two files were previously under the “Triads” section, but we’ve now moved them to be under the “Chord Scales” header.

  • Tonality Types – Diatonic Chord Scales in Triads
  • Tonality Types – Open Triad 1st and 2nd Inversion

No changes here, just a relocation.  You don’t need to download anything, but just wanted you to know.

_____________________________________________________________

That’s it for this batch of upgrades.  Download and replace these files in your collection.

Please post your comments in the Forums.  Thanks for your support in our efforts to keep the TedGreene.com website one of the greatest places to learn more about music and guitar.

Gentlemen (and ladies),
Are you ready to hop aboard the Lesson File Upgrades #18 ?
For our April 2018 installment we have 6 upgraded files to add.
Four of the upgrades are in the “Blues” section, one for the “Chord Studies” section, and 1 for the “Single-Note Soloing” section.
We also deleted a duplicate/redundant copy of three files that were incorrectly placed in the “Blues” section.
_______________________________________________________________

In the “Blues” section we deleted the following files:

Major Pentatonic, 2 voices, 2-to-1 Soprano thru Adjacent Positions, p.1-2
Major Pentatonic, 2 voices, 2-to-1 Soprano in Adjacent Positions, p.3
Major Pentatonic, 2 voices, 2-to-1 Soprano thru Adjacent Positions, p.4

These 3 files were previously written up with notation and correctly posted in the “Chord Studies” section (since they are not “blues” studies). They are all combined on one file, named:
   Major Pentatonic (Parts 1-3) 2 Voices 2-to-1
_____________________________________________________________

Also in the “Blues” section, we wrote up and moved the following file:

   Modern Dominant Progressions
This has now been added to the “Chord Studies” section and renamed as:
   Outlining Modern Dominant Progressions
_____________________________________________________________

Again, in the “Blues” section we wrote up and moved the following file:
   Multi-position Blues Runs
This has now been added to the “Single Note Soloing” section and renamed as:
   Multi-Position Blues Run
_____________________________________________________________

Now, for the upgrades in the “Blues” section, these 4 files all have new versions and been renamed.

Old names:
   Blues - Key of F
   Harmonic Vocabulary and Progressions
   Modern Dominant Flavored Blues
   Modern Jazz-Blues Progressions

New Listing names:

Blues in F (Upper Register Modern Voicings)
The Blues:  Harmonic Vocabulary and Progressions
   Modern Dominant-Flavored Blues
   Modern Jazz-Blues Progressions

_____________________________________________________________

That’s it for this batch of upgrades.  Download and replace these files in your collection.
Please post any comments in the Forums HERE.  Thank you for your support in our efforts to keep the TedGreene.com website one of the best places to learn more about solo guitar….all for free!

Hi guys,
We posted batch #19 of the “Lesson File Upgrades”  http://tedgreene.com/teaching/upgrades.asp

For our June 2018 installment of the “Lesson File Upgrades” we have 8 upgraded files to add.
This time we have 7 files to replace in the Fundamentals section, and one file in the Comping section.
In addition, one file that had been in the Fundamentals section was moved to the Chord Studies section.
Below is the run-down on the details for this month:
_____________________________________________________________________

In the Fundamentals section we upgraded the following files:
     Developing Fingerboard Sense
     Dorian Progressions for Taping
     Harmonic Minor Progressions for Taping
     Major Scales
     Mixolydian Harmony and Melody
     Mixolydian Scales
The Guitar Layout - Voicing Twins

We renamed them exactly as Ted had originally labeled them as follows:
Developing Fingerboard Sense in a Harmonic-Melodic Style
     Dorian Progressions for Taping
     Harmonic Minor Progressions for Taping
     Learning the Fingerboard: Major Scale
     Learning the Fingerboard: Mixolydian Scale
     Mixolydian Harmony and Melody
Voicing Twins: Studies by Shape Affinity
___________________________________________________________

Also in the Fundamentals section, we moved the following lesson to the Chord Studies section.
Aeolian Colors with Pedal Tones (1989-09-03)
There were no changes except that we removed the date from the listing name:
New file name:
     Aeolian Colors with Pedal Tones
___________________________________________________________

In the Comping section, we upgraded and renamed this file:
Bye Bye Blackbird - Eb Comping

New version and new listing name:
Bye Bye Blackbird – V-1 and V-2 chords, key of Eb
_____________________________________________________________
That’s it for this batch of upgrades. Download and replace these files in your collection.
