Hi guys,
We recently took an informal inventory of the files posted in the “LESSONS” section of the TedGreene.com site.  We were aware that there were “some” files that needed attention – either because they needed cleaning up (straightening, removing dirt, fixing yellow spots, improving the size/dpi, or just getting a clearer scanned copy), or they needed “translation/transcription” pages or music notation because they might be too difficult for people to follow/understand.  And there are some pages that need to be relocated to different areas, and some with multiple pages that should be combined.  Occasionally I would stumble across one or two of these files, “upgrade” them and then post them along with the next Newsletter.  But I was amazed to learn that there are a LOT of these files that need some kind of help.  Most of these files were posted in the early years of the site…and things have changed a bit.  Our aim is to provide quality content of all Ted’s lessons, arrangements, and other pages.  This means that many of those pages will need a bit of work in order to make them clear, easier to read, follow, and understand.  We are not presuming to “interpret” or explain Ted’s lesson pages, but merely to clearly present them in a way that expresses what Ted wanted to impart for each particular sheet.

We’ll be posting these as “Lesson File Upgrades” separately from the regular monthly Newsletter/New Items.  They’ll be marked with a blue “UPGRADED” flag next to the file name and we’ll be making announcements in the Forums, as well send out emails to those who signed up for the “Advanced Update” announcements.  It will also be mentioned on the Ted Greene Facebook and Twitter pages.  How many and how regular we post these will vary according to how much time it takes to revamp the pages.  We expect at least one or two postings per month, with anywhere from 5 to 20 files each “batch.”

If you have your own collection of Ted Greene Lesson files, you’ll probably want to swap the old files for the new ones.  We’ll be letting you know exactly what we do – the name of the previously posted file, as well and the new one.

Here is a link to the "Lesson Files Upgrades" page: http://tedgreene.com/teaching/upgrades.asp

I'll be posting announcements here for each new batch of upgrades, but I'd also encourage you to sign up for the "Advance Updates" if possible.
Let us know if you have any questions or feedback.

Bravo!  I applaud you and whoever else is helping you upgrade these lesson sheets.  You have saved my eyes from the inevitable! [cool]

Thanks Nick.
My aim is to make all of Ted's lesson sheets "user-friendly" to anyone wanting to learn from this great guitarist, teacher, arranger, and musician.

Hi guys,

We posted the second batch of “Lesson File Upgrades” for the site.
http://tedgreene.com/teaching/upgrades.asp

This bunch is focused mostly on the “Blues” and the “Single-Note Soloing” sections.

For the “Blues” files we added to Ted’s original sheets a notation + grids version for each one, and renamed a few of them for clarity.
In the Single-Note Soloing” section we upgraded a few to include new notation, provided better quality scan copies, and renamed them to match the tiles that Ted gave them.

As usual, you will probably want to swap these new files with the older ones in your collection.

Hi guys,

We posted the third batch of “Lesson File Upgrades” for the TedGreene.com Lessons section.
http://tedgreene.com/teaching/upgrades.asp

Like last month, we’re again concentrating mostly on upgrading the lessons in the “Blues” section.
And we’ve now finished all the upgrades to the Arrangements/Classical section.  So we’re making some progress on this overhaul process.

You’ll notice that most of the upgraded lesson pages now have included with Ted’s original page a standard notation page, or a notation + grids version for each one.
A few of them have simply been renamed for clarity.
As usual, you’ll probably want to swap these new files with the older ones in your collection.

Hope you find these helpful improvements.

Super Excited about the updates! Its been a while since I posted, but I was curious if anyone had an arrangement from Ted on Pure Imagination from Willy Wonka. Woke up singing it this morning and so I was itching to find an arrangement.

Thanks!

Hey Spideyguy,
I never saw anything in Ted's archives on "Pure Imagination."
If he ever taught it to a student in a private lesson, there is the possibility that the student may possess the only existing copy.
But....I wouldn't hold my breath waiting. [frown]

I know it's not Ted's but thought you might be interested anyways [wink]

Hi,

Sorry, I'm a little late in posting this announcement:
We uploaded batch #8 of the “Lesson File Upgrades.”

http://tedgreene.com/teaching/upgrades.asp

This month we have 11 improved files for the “Arrangements” section. We’ll should have a couple more upgrade batches of arrangements, and then we’ll be finished with that, and we can move on to the other lesson pages. [comp]

There’s some real nice upgrades this month, and I think you’ll enjoy learning and playing them, especially “If I Fell”, “The Nearness of You” and “When You Wish Upon a Star."

Enjoy.
