Ted's birthday was always a great day for a lesson. Ted's B-day is the day before mine and the lesson that week would be very jovial. Ted always had some cool trick to show me. Usually something pretty far removed from what I was studying. He'd get into flemenco rythyms or some obscure R&B tune and I always walked away with something new to consider.
I hope that those of you who are new to Ted's teaching find something here on this web site that sparks you imagination and interest the way that Ted inspired mine. Hope you all had a great day.-Bob

Happy 63 Ted!
You left us so much in your teachings and in the example of your life.
Blessings to you as you mingle with all the greats who have gone before us.

Ode to my Toneman

Glistening strings still.....
reverberate beyond the bounds
of these solid and hollow bodies
harmonies born from the heart
yielding to dreams.

Resounding now through endless realms
celestial tones unwoven and flowing
subtle, yet splendid as a blessing
the resonance, sustaining
like the breath that connects us.

For Ted, always in my heart, on what would have been his 63rd birthday.

Happy Birthday Ted.
Thank you for all the things you taught us and thanks in advance for all the things we continue to uncover.

I've been on a bike trip through Yellowstone, so please forgive the tardy nature of this post - I hope it doesn't cause more grief.  Each year at this time I think of the loss of my father whose birthday is two days before Ted's.  I am so thankful for all that they've both taught me and I am even more thankful that they have both inspired me to keep asking and learning.  Both men were taken far too early and after just joining a friend's 70 year old father on the aforementioned bike trip it brings to mind the knowledge that I haven't been guaranteed time in which to learn. I am very thankful for music and musical examples.  You folk here continue that in Ted's name and I thank you, too.
